I usually like to wait till Wednesday before posting another blog entry so that everyone sees the voting appeal but this deserves mentioning. It seems that at the closing ceremonies of the olympic games they had an Octobus:
This is just weird. The Octobus has gone from a quirky mash up to some sort of oddly prophetic vision of the future. Granted a tentacle filled vision of the future but a vision of the future none the less.
There are so many questions here. Does English school children take such a poor view of school that this seemed required? Did the Japanese delegation find this to be culturally offensive? Or at the very least, some what threatening? Why? Just why did this happen?

The bus brought Willy Wonka into the arena. Then he (played by Russell Brand) took his leave and was replaced by Fatboy Slim for whom the bus turned into an octobus that allowed him to produce music from equipment perched on its head.
Given Fatboy Slim’s music style, I would speculate as to what role drugs played in this whole tentacley affair.
I’m… I’m actually reaching a psyduck level of confusion right now. You have to imagin me with wide open eyes and one hand on my forehead, unable to realise, not wanting to realise… At first, I just thought it was just a random prop, but now you tell me the thing was actually centerpiece of the ceremony…
I’m a little freaked out too, you can believe me. What have I done? I’ve created a monster! One thing is certain tough… NOTHING will ever be the same now…
The Octobus invasion has begun.
It was not *the* centerpiece. It was *a* centerpiece. About two thirds of the way through Russell Brand rode in on top of a bus. After his piece the bus transformed, became the centerpiece for a few minutes, then it left while people were looking at other stuff.
Other centerpieces included pyramid head on a bike and taxis covered in newspaper.
